Question : Construction of New Cargo Ports

(a) the details of construction of new cargo ports in the country, State-wise particularly in Mahabubnagar Parliamentary Constituency of Telangana;
(b) whether any survey/action has been taken for each of the projects and if so, the details thereof, Statewise;
(c) the details of the funds sanctioned and spent for each of the projects so far, State-wise; and
(d) whether the Government has received any demand, if so, the action taken by the Government thereon and the criteria adopted for the same?

Answer given by the minister

(a) Government of India has accorded in-principle approval for development of a modern deep draft all-weather port at Vadhavan in Dahanu taluka in Maharashtra which would be Hub Port for Indian Cargo. There is no proposal of new cargo port in Mahabubnagar Parliamentary Constituency of Telangana.

(b), (c) and (d) Non-major ports are under the jurisdiction of respective State Maritime Boards/State Governments. However, under Sagarmala Programme, Ministry provide financial assistance to State Government port infrastructure projects, coastal berth projects, road & rail projects, fishery harbours, skill development projects, Coastal community development, International standard cruise terminal and unique and innovative projects such as Ro-Pax ferry services etc. The details of projects undertaken in sagarmala along with utilsiation of funds is annexed.
