Question : Financial Assistance to Uttar Pradesh

(a) the length of national highways constructed in terms of kilometers and the names of the highways repaired during the last three years and the current year along with the amount spent thereon, State-wise and year-wise;

(b) the places where large bridges were constructed on rivers and national highways during the last three years and the amount spent thereon;

(c) the number of proposals received from the Government of Uttar Pradesh during the last three years for construction and repair of National Highways and the number of proposals pending so far and if so, the reasons for their pendency;

(d) the amount sanctioned during the last three years for National Highways in Uttar Pradesh; and

(e) the details of National Highways projects completed during the last three years in the country’s economically backward areas including Bundelkhand along with the time by which the remaining pending projects are likely to be completed?

(a) to (b) Development and maintenance of National Highways is a continuous process and they are kept in traffic worthy condition depending upon the availability of funds and inter se priority. The State-wise details of the National Highways constructed during the last three years and current year are given at Annexure-I. The State-wise details of 50 major bridges which have been constructed on the different places on National Highways in the country are given at Annexure-II. The State-wise details of the amount spent on development and maintenance of NHs which includes construction of Major Bridges are given at Annexure-III & IV.

(c) to (d) Projects are sanctioned based on the availability of funds and inter se priority. The number of proposals received from Uttar Pradesh during the last three years and sanctioned projects along with their sanctioned cost are as follows:

(e) About 1080 nos of projects are completed during the last three years in the country including the projects from economically backward areas such as Bundelkhand, etc.
