Question : National Awards to Outstanding MSMEs

(a) whether the Government has started giving annual National Awards to outstanding Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the country for outstanding efforts in entrepreneurship;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the criteria fixed in this regard, category-wise;

(c) the number of applications received by the Government from MSMEs for this purpose during each of the last three years, category-wise;

(d) the names of the MSMEs which have been awarded such award during the said period, State/UT-wise and the quantum of funds allocated and spent during the last three years for these Awards; and

(e) whether there is lack of awareness in MSMEs for such awards and if so, the corrective steps taken/being taken by the Government to spread awareness in MSMEs for such awards?

(a): Yes, Sir.

(b): The criteria for National MSME Award includes investment, production, turnover, employment, net profit, innovation, quality, export, etc.

(c): The number of applications received from the MSMEs for National Awards during the last three years is at Annexure -I.

(d): The list of MSMEs who received national awards during the year 2016-17 is at Annexure-II. The allocation of funds and the amount spent during the financial year 2016-17 to 2018-19 under the budget head of National Awards has been Rs.11.37 Cr. and Rs. 8.11 Cr. respectively.

(e): The Ministry of MSME creates awareness in respect of the National Awards by way of various awareness programmes organised by its field offices and also through other channels of communication.
