Question : Disinvestment of PSUs

(a) whether the Government proposes to disinvest Public Sector Units(PSUs) during the current financial year;
(b) if so, the details thereof, PSU/State/UT-wise including Hindustan Copper Ltd. and non- PSU All India Radio; and
(c) the targeted revenue to be generated through disinvestment during the aforesaid period?

(a) & (b): Yes sir. The Government has indentified some CPSEs for disinvestment during the year in sectors, which includes defence, fertiliser, heavy engineering, mineral & metals, oil, power, steel, technical consultancy, tourism, transport services, trading & marketing.

The proposal for disinvestment of 15 per cent paid up equity of the Hindustan Copper Ltd. (HCL), out of Government of India’s shareholding of 89.95 per cent has been approved by the Government. There is no proposal for disinvestment of the All India Radio.

(c) The budget estimate (BE) for disinvestment during the year 2015-16 is Rs. 69,500 crore. This comprises Rs. 41,000 crore from disinvestment of Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) and Rs. 28,500 crore from strategic disinvestment.
