(a) whether the Railways has completed the work of gauge conversion in the country;
(b) if not, the time by which it is likely to be completed;
(c) whether the work of gauge conversion on Mohari-Tantpur railway line in Rajasthan has been started;
(d) if so, the time by which it is likely to be completed;
(e) whether it is proposed to extend this railway line up to Roopwas (Bharatpur); and
(f) if so, the details thereof?

(a): Since 1992, gauge conversion of 16,917 Km has been done. As on 01-04-2010, there are
about 9,500 Km of Meter / Narrow Gauge lines, out of which works are in progress for about
6000 Km. Further, gauge conversion of 450 Km of Narrow Gauge lines has been proposed in the
Railway Budget 2010-11.
(b): Indian Railways Vision 2020 entails conversion of all Meter Gauge / Narrow Gauge
lines to Broad Gauge except heritage lines. This would, however, depend upon availability
of resources.
(c): Gauge conversion of Mohari-Tantpur is not sanctioned.
