Question : LAW COMMISSION ON GREEN COURTS



(a) whether the law commission has given recommendations for setting up of Green Courts ;

(b) if so, the details of recommendations made by the law commission in this regard ;

(c) whether the Government has accepted the recommendations; and

(d) if so, the time by which a legislation is likely to be brought before Parliament in this regard ?

MINISTER OF THE STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT AND FORESTS (SHRINAMONARAINMEENA)

(a)to(d) : The Law Commission, in it`s 186th Report, has inter alia recommended establishment of separate `Environment Courts` at the State level consisting of judicial and scientific experts in the field of environment,for dealing with environmental disputes besides having appellate jurisdiction in respect of appeals under the various Pollution Control Laws.The recommendations of the report are under consideration of the Government.
