Question : PENDING CASES WITH ENVIRONMENT COURTS



(a) whether several cases are pending with the Environment Courts;

(b) if so, the break-up of such cases pending since last five, four and three years respectively, State-wise;

(c) the steps taken by the Government to ensure early disposal of these cases; and

(d) the extent of success achieved by the Government as a result thereof?

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTERY OF ENVIRONMENT AND FORESTS (SHRI DILIP SINH JU DEV)

(a) Several cases are being filed and disposed of under the Air and Water Acts, in the Courts, Special Courts and Green benches set up in some High Courts.

(b) Statement of cases pending since last five, four and three years respectively are enclosed as Annexure.

(c) & (d) All possible efforts are made by the Pollution Control Boards/Committees to get the cases disposed of at the earliest. As a result of this, about 50% of the cases have been disposed of by the Courts.
