Question : SCHEMES FOR WEAVERS



(a) whether the Government proposes some more schemes to benefit the minority communities engaged in weaving and handicrafts particularly in Eastern Uttar Pradesh to safeguard the dying traditional handicrafts of the country; and

(b) if so, the details thereof?

MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) IN THE MINISTRY OF TEXTILES (SHRI SANTOSH KUMAR GANGWAR)

(a) & (b): Madam, the following schemes are presently available for all handicraft artisans including minority communities engaged in weaving and handicrafts particularly in Eastern Uttar Pradesh to safeguard the dying traditional handicrafts of the country:-

 
1. Baba Saheb Hastshilp Vikas Yojana (AHVY) 2. Design and technology upgradation scheme. 3. Marketing support and services scheme. 4. Research and development scheme. 5. Human and resource development scheme. 6. Handicrafts artisans comprehensive welfare scheme. 7. Infrastructure and technology development scheme.
In addition following schemes are being implemented for the handloom sector/weavers:-
 
1. National Handloom Development Programme. 2. Handloom Weavers Comprehensive Welfare Scheme. 3. Yarn Supply Scheme 4. Comprehensive Handloom Cluster Development Scheme.
There is no proposal to have any more scheme.
