Question : Medical Colleges in Kerala

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) the financial assistance given for the upgradation and infrastructure developments to the various Medical Colleges in Kerala under various schemes during the last five years;

(b) whether any proposals are pending for the development of Manjeri Government Medical College under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana or under National Health Mission; and

(c) if so, the details thereof?

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND
FAMILY WELFARE

(a): The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is implementing a Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) for Strengthening and up-gradation of State Government Medical colleges for starting new PG disciplines and increasing PG seats. Two Government medical colleges namely Government Medical College, Thrissur and Government Medical College, Kozhikode in Kerala have been approved under the said Scheme. Total Central share of Rs. 36.9621 crore has been released to the State.

(b) & (c): No proposal is pending for the development of Manjeri Government Medical College under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna and under National Health Mission.
