Question : Deendayal Amrit Yojana

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) the details of Deendayal Amrit Yojana;

(b) the States in which this scheme is being implemented;

(c) the number of people benefited under this scheme during the last three years along with the details of the physical and financial goals;

(d) whether any proposal for extra budgetary provision has been received to encourage the backward States including Rajasthan; and

(e) if so, whether any special step is being taken/proposed to be taken by the Government?

(a) to (e): Affordable Medicines and Reliable Implants for Treatment (AMRIT) aims to provide affordable medicines for treatment of cancer, cardiovascular and other diseases, thereby reducing the out of pocket expenses.

The first AMRIT pharmacy was opened on 15.11.2015 at AIIMS, New Delhi. At present, 41 AMRIT pharmacies are functional in Central Government/State Government Institutions across the country. The list of states in which this scheme has been implemented is at Annexure.

Since opening of first AMRIT Pharmacy, 13.46 lakhs patients have been benefited under the scheme till 15.03.2017. As on 15th March 2017, a sale of Rs. 56.94 crore has been registered under the scheme. . The value in MRP was Rs. 141.07 crore wherein a savings of Rs. 84.12 crore to the patients was recorded.

All the State Governments have been informed and requested to open up AMRIT pharmacies at State Government Institutions and Hospitals with suitable mechanism. M/s HLL Lifecare Ltd. which is a 100% Government of India owned PSU under this Ministry, has been directed to contact all States which may like to open AMRIT outlets in major State Government hospitals/institutions. No separate funding is provided to M/s HLL Lifecare Ltd. for opening AMRIT outlets.
