Question : SAFETY OF MINES LABOURERS



(a) whether the Government have made any amendments in the labour laws to provide safety to the labourers working in Mines and construction work;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) if not, the reasons therefore;

(d) the number of labourers who have fallen victims in Mine and construction accidents during the last three years, year-wise and State-wise?

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF LABOUR (SHRI ASHOK PRADHAN)

(a ) to (c): With a view to ensure safety of workers in mines and construction work the Government had enacted the Mines Act, 1952 and the Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulations of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1996. The provisions of the Act and Rules/Regulation framed thereunder, are reviewed as an ongoing process and necessary amendments have been incorporated for improving the safety of workers from time to time.

(d): State wise details of the miners who have fallen victims to mine accident during last three years is given below:-
