(a) whether the condition of Jessore Road (NH-34) connecting Kolkata with North Bengal is dilapidated due to various potholes on the road;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether thousands Motorists including tourists specially in North Bengal, Darjeeling, Murshidabad are facing problems to commute on this road;

(d) if so, the details thereof; and

(e) the corrective measures taken by the government for repairing of the said road?

(a) & (e): Jessore Road comprises of two segments i.e. the length of NH-34 from Kolkata to Barasat and the NH-35, which takes off from Barasat and terminates at Petrapole at India-Bangladesh Border. As regards NH-34 linking Kolkata to North Bengal, pot holes developed in the existing pavement from time to time on this NH are being repaired in order to maintain this NH in traffic worthy condition. The repairing works in km 14.40 to 31.00 of Kolkata-Barasat section of NH-34 amounting to Rs. 9.02 crore has recently awarded. The condition of existing carriageway of NH-35 is good.
