(a) whether the Government proposes to set up a number of Medical,
Dental, Ayurveda and Unani Colleges in the country;
(b) if so, the details thereof, locationwise and State-wise; and
(c) the details of requests for the setting up the said colleges
lying pending with the Government, State-wise?

(a) to (c): At present there is no proposal of the Central Government to set up new medical, dental, ayurveda
and unani colleges in the country. However, under the scheme of Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Sureksha Yojna, the
Central Government has proposed to set up six AIIMS like institutions in the under served areas, one each in
the State of Bihar (Patna), Chhattisgarh (Raipur), Madhya Pradesh (Bhopal), Orissa (Bhubaneswar), Rajasthan
(Jodhpur) and Uttarakhand (Rishikesh). There is also a proposal to set up two more AIIMS like institutions in
the State of West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh.
