Question : Loans to Women Self-Help Groups in Rural Areas

(a) whether the Government proposes to provide loan worth Rs. 90000 crore in the next couple of years to women SelfHelp Groups (SHGs), in a bid to ensure growth in rural income from allied agricultural activities;

(b) if so, the details thereof, State/UTwise;

(c) the number of districts and blocks in which National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) is being implemented in the country, State/UT-wise;

(d) the number of Mahila Kisans being supported under Mahila Kisan Sashaktikaran Pariyojana (MKSP) component, a part of NRLM, State/UTwise; and

(e) the number of rural youth trained in self-employment skills by Rural SelfEmployment Training Institutes (RSETIs) and the number of them got employment during the last three years and the current year, State/UT-wise?

(a) and (b): Under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM), the Self Help Groups (SHGs) are supported to raise loans from banks to take up income generating activities including agriculture and allied activities. The target for credit mobilization is fixed every year for the purpose. Since April 2013 to September 2016, a cumulative credit of Rs. 89816.76 crore has been leveraged by Self Help Groups (SHGs) from banks.. A statement indicating State-wise and year-wise details is enclosed as Annexure I. For the current financial year 2016-17, the credit mobilization target is Rs. 41,290.43 crore. The State-wise break for the current year’s target is enclosed as Annexure II.

(c): DAY-NRLM is being implemented in a phase-wise manner in all States. At present it is being implemented in 3231 blocks of 488 districts. A statement indicating State-wise implementation of DAY-NRLM is enclosed as Annexure III.

(d): Under Mahila Kisan Sashaktikaran Pariyojana (MKSP), 34, 00,143 Mahila Kisans are covered. A statement indicating State-wise Mahila Kisans being benefitted is enclosed as Annexure IV.

(e): A statement indicating number of rural youth trained and the number who were settled in self/wage employment during the last three years and the current year is enclosed as Annexure V.
