Question : REFINING CAPACITY OF DIGBOI REFINERY

(a) whether the Government has decided to enhance the refining capacity of Digboi Refinery from the present 0.56 million metric tonne to at least 1 million tonne;

(b) if so, the progress made so far and the capacity sanctioned;

(c) whether the Government has any plan to declare Digboi as ‘Oil Heritage Site’;

(d) if so, the details thereof;

(e) whether the oil sectors in Assam are taking up long term scheme to improve the roads, academic and socio-cultural institutions in oil producing districts of the State under the ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’ programme; and

(f) if so, the details of scheme and the amount earmarked thereof, year-wise ?

(a) & (b) The existing capacity of Digboi Refinery of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL) is 0.65 million metric tonnes per annaum (MMTPA). IOCL has no plan to enhance existing refining capacity of Digboi Refinery.

(c) : No, Sir.

(d) : Does not arise, in view of (c) above.

(e) & (f) : The details of the expenditure incurred during last three years by Oil Public Sector Undertakings in the State of Assam under the ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’ programme to improve roads, education, drinking water, socio-cultural activities etc.are annexed.
