(a): As regards the progress of programme of strengthening and modernisation of plant quarantine facilities in India, in the wake of New Policy on Seed Development (NPSD), Plant Quarantine Station, Mumbai, was identified as one the major stations, for modernisation. Modern equipment as well as overseas training to staff of the Regional Plant Quarantine Station, Mumbai, has been provided. As for training in Plant Protection/Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in various districts of Maharashtra, the State Government has been promoting the IPM approach since 1994 and have organised training through Farmers` Field Schools (FFSs)/IPM demonstrations. The district-wise achievement made by the State in training to farmers during 1999-2000 is indicated in Annexure-I.

(b): State-wise achievements of training in Plant Protection/IPM during last three years are given at Annexure-II.
