Question : Light-houses

(a) whether the Government has any proposal to develop light-houses in the country as tourism centres? if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether the Government has identified the light-houses to be developed as tourism centres in the littoral States of the country;

(c) if so, the names and total number of light-houses to be developed as tourist attractions and the facilities likely to be provided therein, State/UT-wise indicating the time-frame fixed therefor; and

(d) whether the Government also proposes to develop the adjoining areas also from tourism-point of view, if so, the details thereof?

(a)to(c):Yes, Madam. It is proposed to develop 78 lighthouses as centres of tourist attraction across the coastline on PPP mode. The list of lighthouses to be developed as centres of tourist attraction State / UT wise is annexed.The facilities/ amenities to be provided will vary from lighthouse to lighthouse and would include features like resorts/hotels; cafes/restaurants/food courts; viewing deck; souvenir shops; museums; light and sound shows; water sports and adventure tourism; public utilities; beach based recreational activities and other allied activities.
