Question : Revival of KGF

(a) whether there is any proposal to revive mining operations at Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) in Karnataka and if so, the details thereof;

(b) the steps taken by the Government in this regard till date;

(c) the time by which the mining operations is likely to start at the KGF;

(d) whether the Government has sought any assistance from the external agencies to revive the mining operations in KGF and if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (d) The Government has initiated exploration of the left over mined area and tailing dumps of Kolar Gold mines for assessment of remaining resources through Mineral Exploration Corporation Limited (MECL) The revival of Kolar Gold Mines will depend on techno-economic feasibility.
