(a) to (b): Age relaxation is given to women entrepreneurs, and
also preference to them alongwith weaker sections of the society
for creating self-employment among the educated unemployed youth
under the Prime Minister`s Rozgar Yojana (PMRY). The relaxation is
also given under the scheme to the married women applicants for
their residency criteria for the last three years.
In order to provide employment exclusively for women coir
workers, the Coir Board is implementing a scheme `Mahila Coir
Yojana`. Under the scheme motorized ratts/motorized traditional
ratts are provided to women artisans in rural areas after giving
training in spinning coir yarn on the equipment. A subsidy to the
extent of 75% of the cost subject to a ceiling of Rs. 7500/- for
motorized ratts and Rs. 2625/- for motorized traditional ratts are
provided to women coir workers under the scheme. The training in
spinning coir yarn on the equipment under the Scheme is organized
through NGOs, Cooperative Societies, Public Sector Undertakings,
Coir Cooperative Marketing Federations and local bodies etc.
Under the Rural Employment Generation Programme (REGP) Scheme,
the KVIC provides 30% grant of the total project cost to women
entrepreneurs as compared to 25% grant for others. Women have to
contribute 5% of the project cost as compared to 10% for others as
their own contribution under the scheme.
