Question : Provision of Furnitures for MPs

(a) Whether the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) provides repainted and refurbished old furniture and other items to Hon’ble Members of Parliament at latest rates and rent of such furniture items; and

(b) the time by which the Government proposes to revise such rates and rent based on the age and condition of old furniture?

(a) & (b) Central Public Works Department (CPWD) provides new furniture and refurbished old furniture (at depreciated value) free of charge to the Hon’ble Members of Parliament, within existing monetary ceiling of Rs. 80,000/- in respect of durable furniture and Rs. 20,000/- for non-durable furniture respectively.

Rent for durable furniture above the monetary ceiling of Rs. 80,000/- is charged at the rate of 1.20% per month and non-durable furniture above the monetary ceiling of Rs. 20,000/- is charged at the rate of 2.00% per month.
These rates are prescribed by Lok Sabha Secretariat vide latest Accommodation circular issued in May 2019.
