Question : REVIVAL OF CLOSED FERTILIZER UNITS



(a) the number of fertilizer manufacturing units lying closed at present alongwith Sindri in Jharkhand;

(b) the number of workers and officers working in these closed fertilizer units and the details of the monthly/ annual expenditure incurred on their wages, salaries and maintenance during the last three years;

(c) the action taken by the Government to revive these fertilizer units and the time by which all these units are likely to be revived; and

(d) the reasons for delay in their revival?

(a) to (b) The information is furnished in the table at Annexure.

(c) to (d) The Government is in the process of reviving the closed units of Fertilizer Corporation of India Ltd. (FCIL) at Gorakhpur, Ramagundam, Talcher, Sindri and Korba and those of the Hindustan Fertilizer Corporation Ltd. (HFCL) at Barauni,Durgapur and Haldia subject to availability of feedstock.As the process of revival is under different stages of examination, at this stage it is not feasible to indicate a definite time frame.
