Question : Organ Retrieval Banking Organisation

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Organ Retrieval Banking Organization (ORBO) has been established in Uttar Pradesh which will be used as training centre for doctors and if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether such banks have been set up in other States;

(c) if so, the details thereof along with the funds allocated for the purpose, State/ UT-wise;

(d) whether hospital authorities cremate such dead bodies after completion of purpose; and

(e) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a): Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has not established any Organ Retrieval Banking Organisation (ORBO) in Uttar Pradesh.
(b): An Organ Retrieval Banking Organisation (ORBO) is operational at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.
(c): Does not arise.
(d) & (e): As informed by AIIMS, New Delhi, the deceased body is handed over to the family after retrieval of organs and tissues.
