(a) : Public Health being a State subject, establishment of AYUSH colleges comes under the purview of respective State/UT Governments. At present, Nine (09) proposals have been received from various State Governments for opening Government Ayurveda Medical Institutes for the session 2022-23.
Further, under Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National AYUSH Mission (NAM), there is provision of financial assistance for establishment of new AYUSH Colleges in the States, where availability of AYUSH teaching institutions is inadequate in Government Sector and infrastructural development of AYUSH Under Graduate/Post Graduate Institutions. State/UT Governments may avail eligible financial assistance by projecting the same through State Annual Action Plan (SAAP) as per NAM guidelines. Apart from the above, the satellite centres of National Institute of Ayurveda-Jaipur and All India Institute of Ayurveda-New Delhi are being established at Panchkula (Haryana) and Goa respectively.
(b) : The State/UT-wise list of new proposals received for opening Government Ayurveda Medical Colleges is attached as Annexure-I. However, there is no proposal received for Rajgir in Bihar and Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh.
(c) : In view of (b) does not arise.
(d) : The Government is aware that several medicinal plants like Urginea indica, Butea monosperma, Sida cordifolia, Zingiber zerumbet, Trichosanthes tricuspidata, Martynia annua, Operculina turpethum, Mesosphaerum suaveolens, Diplocyclos palmatus, Sphaeranthus Indicus etc. are available in Panch-Pahari at Rajgir, Bihar.
(e) & (f): At present, there is no such proposal under consideration of the Government to develop capacity to utilise these resources at Rajgir, Bihar.
