Question : AIRPORTS IN MADHYA PRADESH



(a) the names of the airports to which land given by the Madhya Pradesh Government for development works;

(b) whether the work has been completed;

(c) if so, the details thereof and if not the reasons therefor;

(d) whether the Airports Authority of India has requested more land from the Madhya Pradesh Government for the purpose; and

(e) if so, the action taken in this regard?

MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) OF THE MINISTRY OF CIVIL AVIATION(SHRI PRAFUL PATEL)

(a) Madhya Pradesh Government has handed over land at Bhopal, Indore and Khajuraho airports.

(b) & (c) Various development works have been completed at these airports. At Bhopal airport, works related to extension of runway upto 2744 m and provision of ground lighting facilities have been completed. In addition, the work related to construction of new modular integrated terminal building to cater to 700 passengers, isolation bay and new apron with link taxi track etc. are underway with expected date of completion by 2010 end. At Indore airport, works related to extension of runway upto 2750 m, construction of link taxi track and provision of approach lighting system on both ends of the runway have been completed and works related to construction of new modular integrated terminal building to cater to 700 passengers is expected to be completed by August 2010. At Khajuroho airport, work related to construction of new apron alongwith link taxi track has been completed and the work related to construction of new terminal building, car park etc. is expected to be completed by June 2011.

(e) Airports Authority of India (AAI) has requested the State Government of Madhya Pradesh to hand over additional land measuring 33.03 acres at Bhopal, 367.2 (for phase I) and 1978 acres (for phase II) at Indore and 214.07 acres at Jabalpur.
