Question : Anganwadi Kendras

(a) the total number of Anganwadi Kendras including the number of Anganwadi Kendras having their own buildings, State-wise;
(b) whether the department releases funds for constructing building of Anganwadi Kendras for those Kendras not having buildings and those having building in dilapidated condition;
(c) if so, the details thereof;
(d) if not, whether the department itself is likely to release funds for constructing building of Anganwadi Kendras; and
(e) if so, by when and the amount of funds to be released and the time by which they are likely to be released?

(a) State-wise number of Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) including the number of AWCs having their own buildings is at Annexure-I.

(b) to (e) Under the revised scope of Anganwadi Services implemented from 01.12.2017, the Central assistance for construction of new Anganwadi Centre building in rural areas is available in convergence with Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS). The unit cost of construction of one Anganwadi Centre Building is Rs.7 lakh. Out of which, Rs.5 lakh is provided under MGNREGS. Remaining Rs.2 lakh are shared equally by the Ministry of Women & Child Development and the State Government. For improving the dilapidated condition of AWC buildings, Government of India provides funds for upgradation of AWC buildings @ Rs. 2.00 lakh per AWC building. State-wise funds released for construction and up-gradation of AWC buildings are at Annexure-II & III.
