Question : RAILWAY POLICE STATION AT HABIBGANJ



(a): whether railway police stations have been sanctioned at Habibganj railway station, Bhopal and Rewa Railway Station, Rewa in Madhya Pradesh since 1997;

(b): if so, whether fifty percent expenditure incurred on these police stations is borne by the railway administration and the remaining fifty percent by the State Government as per a set policy;

(c): whether functioning of both these police stations is being stalled due to non-payment of its contribution for the purpose by the Railway administration;

(d): if so, the action being taken by the railway administration in this regard; and

(e): if not, the time by which action is likely to be taken ?

(a) & (b): Yes, Sir.

(c) to (e): No, Sir. The Police Stations are functional. However, the State of Madhya Pradesh has created posts for these Police Stations without concurrence of the Railway Board. Justification for these posts has been sought for from the State Government. Reply to which is still awaited. Further action will be taken after receipt of requisite justification and documents from the State Police.
