Question : SEMINAR ON DISADVANTAGED CHILDREN



(a) whether a National level seminar on the disadvantaged children was recently held at New Delhi;

(b) if so, whether the problem areas of these children have been identified;

(c) whether any state level action plan has been drawn for the elimination of the identified problems; and

(d) if so, the details thereof particularly with regard to West Bengal?

(a): No, Sir. However, on Universal Children`s Day i.e. on 14th November, 2002, Department of Women & Child Development organised Rashtriya Bal Sanskar Sangam, wherein 4000 children in difficult circumstances from all over the India participated. Sports, educational and cultural activities were organised for the children. The theme of the Rashtriya Bal Sanskar Sangam was Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan.
