Question : Closure of Ayurvedic College

Will the Minister of AYUSH be pleased to state:
(a) the number of Ayurvedic colleges in which Ayurveda syllabus is being taught and Ayurveda treatment being provided during the last five years and the current year;
(b) the details of Ayurveda colleges which were derecognized during the last year along with the reasons therefor;
(c) whether the arrangements for studies in the said institutions were not in accordance with the criteria/ standard therefor;
(d) whether studying, teaching and other activities will face mistrust due to the said action particulary when the demand of Ayurveda is increasing in the world; and
(e) if so, the remedial steps taken/proposed in this regard?

ANSWER

(a) : The requisite information may please be seen in the statement attached at Annexure ‘I’.

(b) : No Ayurveda college was derecognized in last academic year i.e. 2020-21. However, Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) had recommended 13 Ayurveda colleges for de-recognition. The list of such 13 Ayurveda colleges may please be seen in the statement attached at Annexure ‘II’.

(c) : Sir, these institutes are not capable for providing quality medical education and health facility to the society as specified in the provisions of the IMCC Act and the relevant regulations made thereunder.

(d) & (e) : No Sir, various steps have been taken to ensure the quality of education and treatment provided to the students/public. Further, the remedial steps for such colleges will be taken by concerned State Government and Trust/ Society as per directions issued by National commission for Indian System of Medicine.
