Question : Promotion in Railway Services

(a) whether a delegation of Railway Engineers representing “Indian Railway Service of Engineers Officers Association” (IRSEOA) has requested for intervention for timely promotions and parity in promotion to higher posts in the Railways;

(b) if so, whether the members of the delegation have also requested the review of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) decision which had allegedly led to cut-down in the posts for Indian Railway Service Engineers (IRSE) cadre;

(c) if so, the reaction of the Railways thereto along with the steps taken on the said representation; and

(d) the further corrective measures taken/being taken by the Railways in this regard?

(a) : Yes, Madam. The Indian Railway Service of Engineers Officers Assoication (IRSEOA) has given a representation regarding the Cadre Review of their service.

(b) : Yes, Madam.
(c) & (d) : Though the Indian Railway Service of Engineers Officers Assoication (IRSEOA) has alleged in their representation that Department of Personnel & Training (DoP&T) has cut down the posts for Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE), no official communication has been received from DoP&T about the number of posts being given to IRSE under the proposed Cadre Review. However, the Minister of State in the Ministry of Railways has written a letter to the Finance Minister on the issue.
