(a) the details regarding Dam Rehabilitation and Improvement Project (DRIP) in Tamil Nadu;
(b) whether any irrigation schemes have been implemented by the Government including the tank modernization scheme in Tamil Nadu;
(c) if so, the details thereof; and
(d) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) Dam Rehabilitation and Improvement Project (DRIP), a World Bank funded Project was started in April 2012, with an objective to improve safety and operational performance of selected dams along with institutional strengthening with system wide management approach. The revised project cost is Rs.3466 crore and is scheduled to be completed by June, 2020. Under DRIP, there are two Implementing Agencies in Tamil Nadu viz., Tamil Nadu Water Resources Department (TNWRD) and Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO). TNWRD has 69 dams in DRIP portfolio with a revised cost of Rs.543 crore for rehabilitation. TANGEDCO has 20 dams in DRIP portfolio with a revised cost of Rs.260 crore for rehabilitation.
(b) to (d) Water being a State subject, planning, execution & maintenance of water resource project are primarily undertaken by the respective State Governments as per their need and priority. Government of India provides technical and financial assistance through various schemes such as Repair Renovation and Restoration (RRR) of water bodies under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY), etc.
The objectives of Repair, Renovation and Restoration (RRR) of Water Bodies scheme are comprehensive improvement and restoration of water bodies thereby increasing tank storage capacity and restoration of lost irrigation potential, ground water recharge, increased availability of drinking water, Improvement in agriculture/horticulture productivity, etc. As per guidelines, water bodies with water spread area of 2 to 10 ha in urban areas and more than 5.0 ha in rural areas are considered for inclusion under this RRR of water bodies scheme.

In Tamil Nadu, since 12th Plan onwards, 153 schemes are ongoing with an estimated cost of Rs.77.75 crore under the RRR of Water Bodies scheme. Out of these, 104 numbers of water bodies have been completed as reported by the State. Central Assistance (CA) of Rs.16.25 crore has been released to the State upto March, 2019.
Per Drop More Crop (PDMC) component of PMKSY implemented by Department of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmer Welfare mainly focuses on water use efficiency at farm level through precision/micro irrigation. Area covered and funds released to Tamil Nadu under PDMC component of PMKSY during last four years are given below:-
