(a) whether the Union Government has received a proposal for starting a Dairy programme in the north Karnataka; and

(b) if so, the details thereof along with the response of the Union Government thereto?

(a)&(b Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries, Government of India have not received any specific proposal for starting a Dairy programme in north Karnataka. However, this Department has so far approved 13 projects in north Karnataka with a total outlay of Rs 29.59 crore with central share of Rs 23.17 crore under dairy development schemes namely National Dairy Plan-I (NDP-I), Strengthening Infrastructure for Quality and Clean Milk Production (SIQ-CMP) and Intensive Dairy Development Programme(IDDP). The Centrally Sponsored Scheme IDDP and SIQ-CMP has been discontinued from the financial year 2014-15. The erstwhile IDDP and SIQ-CMP scheme along with its objectives and targets have been subsumed under the new scheme “National Programme for Bovine Breeding and Dairy Development (NPBBDD)” from 2014-15 of the 12th Five Year Plan. The Scheme-wise details of number of projects, approved outlay and districts covered are as given below:
