(a) No serving officers and employees were reported to have died due to COVID in any institutions of Ministry of New and Renewable Energy viz. National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE), National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE), National Institute of Bio-Energy (NIBE), Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA) and Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI).
However, as per the information provided by Power Grid Corporation Limited of India (PSU of Ministry of Power), their 18 executives & 17 non-executive employees died due to COVID-19.
(b) & (c) Does not arise in respect of MNRE Institutions. Power Grid Corporation of India Limited provides the following assistance/relief to the dependents of deceased employees to ensure their successful rehabilitation:
i. Group Insurance (Ordinary): Ranging from Rs. 8 lakhs to Rs. 20 lakhs.
ii. Medical coverage to dependents (spouse, 02 eldest dependent children and dependent parents) of deceased employees.
iii. Accommodation security to dependents of deceased employees till completion of schooling of 02 eldest children.
iv. Economic Rehabilitation Scheme: monthly compensation equivalent to 50% of last drawn (Basic Pay + DA) of the deceased employee, till his/ her notional date of retirement, on optional basis. The beneficiary has to deposit with the company, the accumulated PF, Gratuity and EDLI amount. The deposited amount is refunded to the beneficiary without interest after notional date of retirement.
v. Employees contributory death relief scheme wherein each member employee contributes Rs. 450/- (present member employee strength is around 8550) and compensation amount is around Rs. 38.47 lakh.
vi. Insurance coverage for outstanding Advances for House Building, Children Higher Education & Conveyance availed from Company.
vii. Company (POWERGRID) has also introduced ‘Saksham’ Scheme for the dependent children/ dependent Spouse of deceased Employee as follows:
(a) Monetary assistance is provided for education of 2 eldest children up to graduation or completion of any professional course, as mentioned below:
? From nursery to class 10 : Rs. 25,000/-per annum
? From class 11 to 12 : Rs. 50,000/-per annum
? For Graduation/ other professional courses : Rs. 75,000/-per annum
(b) In case the deceased employee’s spouse has no regular employment, the following support is provided:
? Job-oriented training/ skill development in any area of her/his preference
? Seed money to create self-employment opportunities
The total expenditure on such skill development and seed money combined has been restricted upto Rs. 5 lakhs.
(d) Does not arise in respect of Institutions of Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. There is no such proposal in Power Grid Corporation of India Limited.
(e) Does not arise.
