Question : UTILIZATION OF IMPREST MONEY BY HOSPITALS



(a) the details of the imprest money available at the disposal of the competent authority in the Central Government Hospitals in Delhi including Kalawati Saran Children`s Hospital during each of the last three years and the current year;

(b) whether the said competent authorities have utilized the imprest money for procurement of those life saving/ essential medicines which were not available in medical stores of the said hospitals during the said period;

(c) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor, Hospital-wise;

(d) whether the mortality rate has increased in the said hospitals during the said period;

(e) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor, Hospital-wise; and

(f) the corrective steps taken/ being taken by the Government in this regard?

(a): The details of the imprest money available during each of last 3 years and current year in respect of Central Government hospitals in Delhi viz. Safdarjung Hospital (SH), Dr. RML Hospital (DRMLH), Smt. Sucheta Kriplani Hospital (SSKH) and Kalawati Saran Children Hospital (KSCH) are given below:

(b) & (c): No. The imprest amount is utilised for urgent administrative matters and not for procurement of life saving/essential medicines. Procurement of life saving/ essential medicines, if required, is done from regular budget.
