Question : SETTING UP BHEL PLANTS



(a) whether the BHEL has any proposal to set up solar power plants at Trichy, Tamil Nadu and in Karnataka;

(b) if so, the details and the estimated capacity thereof and the time by which it is likely to be set up;

(c) whether the BHEL has any proposal to augment its production capacity; and

(d) if so, the details thereof during the last three years along with the targets fixed for the next three years and the steps taken to achieve the same?

(a) & (b): Yes Madam. Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) manufactures solar photovoltaic (PV) modules and sets up solar PV projects on EPC basis. BHEL is also in the business of setting up of solar photo-voltaic (PV) power plants for its various customers including Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) and Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL) in the State of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka respectively. The details of such solar PV projects currently under execution in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka is given below:-

(d) : BHEL has initiated setting up an integrated solar photo-voltaic (PV) manufacturing facility of around 500 MW p.a. in phases in Maharashtra subject to Government approval regarding grant of 40% capital subsidy under National Clean Energy Fund (NCEF), to be completed in 3 years.
