Question : RENEWABLE ENERGY



(a) the details of performance and achievements made under various New and Renewable Energy Schemes during the last three years and the current year, scheme-wise and State–wise;

(b) the total financial assistance provided to the Ministry in the Budget 2010-11 for harnessing renewable energy sources in the country;

(c) whether the Government has formulated any action plan to generate power through these sources in the country during the next five years; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) : State-wise and scheme-wise details of achievements made under different renewable energy programmes of the Ministry during the last three years i.e. 2007-08, 2008-09, 2009-2010 and current year 2010-11 (as on 30.06.2010) are given in the Annexure.

(b) : An outlay of Rs.1000 crore has been allocated to the Ministry in the Budget 2010-11 for implementation of various renewable energy programmes in the country.

(c)&(d): The grid-interactive power generation capacity from various renewable energy sources was 16,817 MW as on 31.3.2010. and a target of about 2,970 MW has been set for the current year 2010-11. Further capacity addition of 3,500 MW is envisaged during 2011-12 and of 15,000 MW during the 12th plan period.. An exclusive target for the first phase upto March, 2013 of 1,100 MW of grid connected solar power plants has also been set under the recently initiated “Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission”.
