Question : High Quality Aptitude Test

(a) whether the Government is considering high quality aptitude test for admission to undergraduate programmes of Central Universities from the 2021-22 academic session;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether the Government has consulted all the stake holders before arriving for conducting high quality aptitude test and if so, the details thereof;
(d) whether the Government has also set up a committee to recommend modalities for conducting the high quality aptitude test; and
(e) if so, the details of the composition of the committee and the time by which the committee is likely to submit its report to the Government?

(a) to (e): New Education Policy, 2020 envisions for high quality common test for different subjects for universities through common entrance test for the admission to reduce burden on students, universities and colleges and entire education system. Accordingly, this Ministry has requested University Grants Commission (UGC) to set up a Committee including Vice Chancellors of old and new Central Universities to go into the nitty-gritty of implementation of National Education Policy recommendations about common entrance test at Under-graduate level in Central Universities. The UGC has constituted a Committee which comprises Vice Chancellors of Central University of Punjab, Mizoram University, Central University of South Bihar, University of Delhi, BHU, Director General, National Testing Agency and Joint Secretary of UGC.
