Question : Non-payment of Salaries to Labourers

(a)the details and the number of organisations/ companies whose property had been seized on account of non-payment of salaries to the labourers during the last three years, State-wise;
(b)the provisions under which action has been taken against the companies which have not given salaries to the labourers on time; and
(c)the steps taken by the Government to ensure that salaries are given to labourers on time and the efforts made to ensure its strict compliance?

(a) to (c): “Labour” falls under the Concurrent List. Central and State Governments takes action in accordance with respective Labour Laws. Information relating to the details and the number of companies whose property had been seized on account of non-payment of salaries to the labourers is not maintained centrally.
The Office of Chief Labour Commissioner (Central) through its regional offices and State Labour Machineries conduct inspections regularly under various labour laws to curb violations pertaining to less payment and non- payment of salary/wages to protect the interest of Labourers.
