Question : CIRPs under IBC

(a) the number of Corporate Insolvency Resolution Processes (CIRPs) filed under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) till date;
(b) the amount of total debt of the companies filed for resolution till date;
(c) the total number of CIRPs resolved and the debt recovered by banks till date;
(d) the details of 100 biggest CIRPs filed till date and the percentage haircut taken by banks on top 100 companies with details of winning bids; and
(e) the details of top 100 CIRPs resolved by takeover by another entity with the percentage of haircut taken by the banks?

(a) and (b): The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has apprised that till 30.6.2021, 4,540 cases were admitted for corporate insolvency resolution process (CIRP) under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 (IBC). MCA has further apprised that CIRP is initiated on the basis of default amount and information on the amount of total debt of the corporate debtors under CIRP is not maintained by the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India.

(c): As per inputs received from MCA, till 30.6.2021, 394 CIRPs ended in resolution, with an aggregate realisable amount of Rs. 2.45 lakh crore pertaining to financial creditors, including banks.

(d) and (e):As per inputs received from MCA, till 30.6.2021, the amount realisable by financial creditors in the top 100 CIRPs that ended in resolution is Rs. 2.37 lakh crore, which is more than 172% of the liquidation value and more than 36% of the admitted claims.
