Question : STRIDE

(a) the objective, salient features and the current status of the ‘Scheme for Trans-disciplinary Research for India‘s Developing Economy’ (STRIDE) scheme, a national initiative for comprehensive welfare of the society launched by University Grant Commission (UGC);
(b) whether the scheme will provide for research capacity building in diverse disciplines by assistance, teaching and guidance to young talents for finding innovative and practical solutions to local, regional, national and global problems;
(c) the details of the states and the districts in the country included in the STRIDE scheme;
(d) whether the said scheme is likely to improve the developing economy of India; and
(e) if so, the details thereof and the steps being taken by the Government to ensure maximum benefits of the scheme for the students of Gujarat?

(a)&(b): The University Grants Commission (UGC) has launched the Scheme for Trans-disciplinary Research for India’s Developing Economy (STRIDE) for strengthening research culture, innovation and supporting trans-disciplinary research relevant to national development and to fund high impact national network projects in the identified thrust areas in humanities and human sciences and Indian knowledge systems. (c): The UGC has informed that after a thorough review of the proposals, 35 institutions were finally selected for Component-1 under STRIDE. The list of the selected Higher Educational Institutions is available at https://www.ugc.ac.in/pdfnews/1493134_LSPQ-No-3056-Annexure-I.pdf .
(d)&(e): STRIDE promotes the mission of the Atma Nirbhar Bharat and thus contributes towards India''s developing economy. This scheme supports Indian HEIs that are eligible to receive UGC funding.
