Question : EXPENDITURE ON PURCHASE OF ARMY GADGETS



(a) the expenditure made by the Government in acquiring U.A.V.s, U.G.S. and Hand held Thermal Image Sensors for border areas;

(b) the number of infiltrators caught by use of these expensive gadgets; and

(c) the reasons for failure of such expensive high technology apparatus to catch infiltrators in border areas and the rationale of purchasing them?

(a) The value of concluded contracts is as under:


(i) Unarmed Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) : Rs. 129.02 crores
(ii) Hand Held Thermal Imager (HHTI) Sensors : Rs. 83.78 crores
(iii) Unattended Ground Sensors (UGS) : Rs. 71.23 crores
