Question : Naturopathy Wellness Centres

Will the Minister of AYURVEDA, YOGA AND NATUROPATHY, UNANI, SIDDHA AND HOMOEOPATHY (AYUSH) be pleased to state:

(a) the number of Naturopathy centres functioning across the country, State/UT-wise;

(b) whether the Government has received any proposal to open Naturopathy centres in the northern and north-eastern States including Haryana and Assam;

(c) if so, the details thereof;

(d) whether the Government has formulated any policy to open Naturopathy centres in the country, particularly in Northeast States and Haryana; and

(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a): Public Health is a State subject and the Governments of the concerned States / UTs run health centres including Naturopathy Centres in their respective jurisdictions.
At the central level, the Ministry of AYUSH has set up a National Institute of Naturopathy at Pune (Maharashtra). In addition, this Ministry has also set up aCentral Council for Research of Yoga & Naturopathy (CCRYN) which is an autonomous organization under Ministry of AYUSH for promoting research in Naturopathy & Yoga. The CCRYN has set up 16 Yoga and Naturopathy Centres across the country, the list of which is given at Annexure.
(b) & (c): No such proposal has been received in this Ministry. However, the Government has approved construction of a Post Graduate Institute of Yoga & Naturopathy Education & Research (PGIYNER) with 200 bedded Hospital is being set up at Devarkhana, Jhajjar (Haryana). First Phase of the construction of the institute has been completed.
(d) & (e): Under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National AYUSH Mission (NAM), there is provision for financial assistance for setting up of up to 50 bedded integrated AYUSH Hospitals including the system of Naturopathy. State Governments of Northern and Northeast States including Haryana and Assam may avail the eligible financial assistance by submitting the proposal through State Annual Action Plans (SAAPs)as per NAM guidelines.
