Question : Loss of Jobs

(a) whether it is true that around 550 persons are losing their jobs daily in the country due to various reasons;
(b) if so, the details thereof along with the detail of laying off during the last four years, Sector/State/UT-wise; and
(c) the details of number of graduates, post-graduates and Ph.D holders who were unemployed during the last four years, Sector/Year/State-wise?

(a) & (b): As per the Statistics on industrial disputes, closures, retrenchments and lay-offs in India compiled by Labour Bureau, Ministry of Labour and Employment on the basis of the returns received from the Labour Departments of the States and the Regional Labour Commissioner (Central), the State-wise and Sector-wise information regarding number of units affecting lay-offs, number of workers laid-off thereby during 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 is at Annexure-I.

(c): As per the result from the available labour force surveys on Employment-Unemployment conducted by Labour Bureau, the estimated unemployed persons having qualification graduate and above aged 15-29 years in the country is given at Annexure-II. Data for post-graduates and Ph. D holders is not maintained separately.
