Question : Cutting of Yamuna Zone

(a) whether the Delhi Development Authority has any proposal to cut the Yamuna Zone for regularization of illegal settlements and construction in ‘O’ zone of Delhi’s Master Plan and if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor;

(b) whether several environmentalists have called such proposal as disastrous as it amounted to tempering with the river’s ecology and if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the corrective steps taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) to (c): Delhi Development Authority (DDA) had issued a public notice dated 28.09.2013 under Section 11A of Delhi Development Act 1957 for redefining the boundary of Zone ‘O’ and has received suggestions/ observations. However, the National Green Tribunal vide its order dated 28.10.2013 has directed Delhi Development Authority and other Authorities not to act on the Notification dated 28.09.2013 without specific order of the Tribunal. The matter is subjudice.
