control of the Government of India. The availability of urea to each State, including
Tamil Nadu, is ensured as per the requirement and allocation made under Essential
Commodities Act (ECA). Overall availability of urea in Tamil Nadu during the last three

augmenting supply from other sources. Further, the availability of decontrolled fertilizers
is dependent on market forces, and no allocation of these fertilizers is made under
Essential Commodities Act.
