Question : AYUSH HOSPITALS AND DISPENSARIES



(a) the number of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) hospitals and dispensaries, separately in the country, State/UT-wise;

(b) the steps taken/proposed to be taken by the Government to open new AYUSH hospitals and dispensaries in the country, State/UT-wise;

(c) the number of proposals received by the Government from the States/UTs for construction and upgradation of AYUSH hospitals and dispensaries along with the action taken/proposed to be taken including funds allocated by the Government for the purpose during each of the last three years and the current year, proposal and State/wise

(d) whether the Government proposes to use traditional systems of medicines in maternal and child healthcare and open AYUSH clinics/dispensaries for women`s health exclusively under selected female AYUSH practitioners and has prepared any treatment protocol in this regard and if so, the details thereof; and

(e) the steps being taken by the Government for integration of AYUSH practitioners in the country`s mainstream health system?

THE MINISTER OF STATE (IC) OF THE MINISTRY OF AYURVEDA, YOGA & NATUROPATHY, UNANI, SIDDHA AND HOMOEOPATHY (AYUSH) (SHRI SHRIPAD YESSO NAIK)

(a) : The number of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) hospitals and dispensaries, separately in the country, as on 01 .04.2014 is enclosed as Annexure-I & II respectively.

(b) : Government of India has approved and notified the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National AYUSH Mission (NAM) on 29.09.2014, which inter alia includes the component of AYUSH Services, where there is provision for setting up of 50 bedded integrated AYUSH Hospitals for States/UTs in the country.

(c) : the number of proposals received by the Government from the States/UTs for construction and upgradation of AYUSH hospitals and dispensaries along with the action taken including funds allocated by the Government for the purpose during each of the last three years i.e. 2012-13, 2013-14 & 2014-15 are furnished at Annexure-III, IV & V respectively. However, during the current year 2015-16 no Such proposals have, been received till dale.

(d) : AYUSH systems of medicines are used in maternal and child healthcare and the teaching hospitals of AYUSH systems have specialized departments for maternal and child health care. Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH) is running specialty clinics for Mother and Child Health through its research centres and providing medical treatments. However, there is no proposal from Government of India to open AYUSH clinics and dispensaries exclusively for Women’s,health under selected female AYUSH practitioners.

(e) : The National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) envisages mainstreaming of AYUSH by providing support for integrating AYUSH practitioners within the Primary health care delivery system through co-location and contractual appointment of AYUSH doctors/paramedics and also providing support for AYUSH drugs.
