Question : New Train from Hubli to Bidar

(a) whether the Ministry has received any requests from public/public representatives for introducing a new train from Hubli to Bidar via Koppal, Raichur and Kalaburagi in the name of Kalyana Karnataka Express;

(b) if so, the present position thereof;

(c) the time by which this train would be introduced fulfilling the long pending demand of the travelling public, industry associations and chambers of commerce; and

(d) the details of new trains proposed to be introduced/already introduced by the Government in the State of Karnataka during the last three years?

(a) to (c) Yes, Sir. Representations, including from the Hon’ble Member of Parliament, have been received for introduction of Kalyana Karnataka Express between Hubballi and Bidar via Koppal. The same is operationally not feasible for implementation, at present. However, introduction of trains is an ongoing process on Indian Railways subject to operational feasibility, traffic pattern, availability of resources, etc.

(d) Indian Railways do not run train services on State- wise basis as Railway network straddles across State boundaries. However, during 2019-2020 to 2021-2022, 14 train services have been introduced over South Western Railway, which on originating/terminating basis, serve the stations located in the State of Karnataka.
