(a) whether the Union Government has received several proposals from the State Government
of Jammu & Kashmir for promotion of winter sports in the State, viz. polo, skiing, white
water rafting, etc.;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) the decision of the Union Government thereon; and
(d) the funds released to State during the last three years and the current year for the
said sports?

(a)&(b) Yes, Madam. The following proposals have been received from the Department of
Youth Services and Sports, Government of Jammu & Kashmir for promotion of winter sports
# Construction of Hostel building at Gulmarg at an estimated cost of Rs.300.00 lakh
# Procurement of imported skiing equipment for Rs.150.00 lakh
# Self Employment Scheme for Advance Course for passed out skiers by providing them
Refresher Training & Equipment to become Mountain & Skiing Guides – Rs.10.00 lakh
(c)&(d) These proposals are under consideration of the Government.
