(a) whether the coal-bearing States are demanding 12 per cent free power
from independent power producers in line with the national hydro power policy;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the action taken/being taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) to (c) : Some resource rich States like Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Madhya
Pradesh & Jharkhand are of the view that coal bearing States be adequately
compensated for the adverse impact on their environment and infrastructure
as according to them the revenue accrual from royalty on coal is less
compared to 12 per cent free power given to host States of hydro power
projects.
No decision on the above request has been taken by the Government.
