STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN THE LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 198*DUE FOR 04.07.2019 REGARDING “AFFORDABLE HOUSING”
(a) to (d): No Agency has been given the responsibility for providing houses at low prices in cities by this Ministry. However, State Level Nodal Agencies (SLNAs) have been designated in each State/Union Territory (UT) for implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) [PMAY(U)] through Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), Housing Boards, Development Authorities etc.
The cost of construction of houses in urban areas under the PMAY(U) is more than one lakh. Cost depends on various factors like location, material cost, labour cost, technology used, etc.
Central assistance, as below, is provided to States/UTs through following four verticals of the Scheme:

Group (LIG), 160 sqm and Rs. 12 lakh for
for Middle Income Group-I beneficiaries belonging to
(MIG-I) and 200 sqm for EWS/LIG, MIG-I and MIG-II
Middle Income Group-II categories respectively
(MIG-II).
3. Affordable Upto 30 sqm Rs. 1.50 lakh

States/UTs/ULBs also make different levels of financial assistance to the beneficiaries under ISSR, AHP and BLC verticals of PMAY(U).
A total of 83,62,975houses have been approved under the Scheme so far; out of this 48,31,580 are at various stages of construction and 26,07,913 have been completed/occupied. City-wise and year-wise details of houses constructed during the last three year sare at Annexure.
