Question : International Competition Network Merger Workshop

(a) Whether the Government has recently organised a International Competition Network
Merger Workshop;
(b) if so, the details thereof along with the key deliberations raised in the workshop; and
(c) the follow-up action taken/proposed to be taken by the Government thereon?

(a), (b) &(c): Competition Commission of India (CCI) is a member of International ''
Competition Network.
In the period 2012-2015, the CCl was also a co-chair of International Competition
Network (ICN) Merger Working Group (MWG) and in that capacity hosted a two day workshop
on behalf of the lCN Merger Working Group on 1st and 2nd December ~O 14 in New Delhi.

The workshop was attended by about 100 representatives from various competition
agencies. The theme of the ICN MWG Workshop was: "International Cooperation and Remedies
in Merger Review".
Discussions in the workshop took place on following issues:
i. International Merger Enforcement Co-operation covering practice for international
cooperation and practical examples of cooperation and exchange of information.
I. Remedies in Merger Cases which covered case studies on experience of mature
jurisdiction and overcoming challenges in designing and implementing cross-border
remedies.
Hi. Hypothetical Case study covering the aspects of remedy designs and international
cooperation.
ICN, through such workshops, promotes exchange of practical experience among
delegates in panel discussions and break-out sessions. The follow-up actions of such workshops
are taken by the ICN through the working groups.
